I am assistant professor of educational foundations and secondary education in the Department of Teacher Education. My research focuses on education and social welfare policy, youth violence, and public uses of security technology. I teach classes in the sociology of education, educational foundations, and contemporary educational issues. Some of my recent publications include, "Being Down": Challenging Violence in Urban Schools and At Zero Tolerance: Punishment, Prevention, and School Violence, as well as article that have appeared in Teacher College Record, Urban Education, Educational Theory, and other academic journals. |
